Speak, even if your voice is trembling
Please, you’ve been quiet for so long
Believe, it’ll be worth the risk you’re taking
You’re afraid, but you can hear adventure calling
There’s a rush of adrenaline to your bones
What you make of this moment changes everything
– Amanda Cook (The Voyage)
I am so in love with these words at the moment – I listen to them many times a day. The first time I heard this song, the lyrics washed over my soul as if the Lord was singing right into my heart, and it still leaves me breathless. What you make of this moment changes EVERYTHING.
This moment seems huge to us. The moment when you pack up your life as you know it, and answer the call into the unknown.
Well, maybe that is a little dramatic – We know WHERE we are called to, but from our familiar little spot it seems like a faraway land. And what is unknown to us about this place and the life we will live there, is known, very known, to the Lord. He is the One, afterall, who prepared this place for us, and prepared us for this place. So let me share our new home, and our hearts for this new home with you.
The town we are moving to is in the Eastern Cape (one of the provinces I have actually NOT lived in yet). Here we will join as team members to Aflame ministries – You can read about them here . The Aflame team received a mandate from the Lord for 100 000 souls in the Transkei. This is what they share about this mission on their website :
The villages in the Transkei spreads as far as the eye can see, from mountain tops to valleys. Many of the villages in the Transkei are hard to reach, and have no existing churches in them. Communities are tormented by witchcraft and ancestral worship, causing poverty and destruction of families.
Our focus is to reach villages through the love and power of God. We do this through Gospel campaigns and door to door ministry. Planting churches in villages and raising up leaders from the local communities who loves the Word and the Holy Spirit.
We have set our hearts on being obedient to the Lord by doing what He said in Matthew 10:
And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”
This resulted in us witnessing numerous healings, miracles and deliverances over the years. His love flowing through power has opened the hearts of many to come to Him and surrender their lives to His goodness.
God has used the ministry to touch people of all walks and social standing through conferences, within and outside of South Africa. We love to be part of what He is doing on the earth, seeing hearts ignited with passion for Him! (www.aflame.co.za )
Our hearts are burning with a huge excitement for the way the Lord is moving – using nameless, faceless, selfless people to further His Kingdom and spread His truth and Light to all the earth. And this is happening all over the world, right now! Real people, with/without real jobs, with real relationships, with real lives. I look at myself, at the lives we have been living, and I ask “why us?”. And the truth is that I don’t know. What I do know is that the cry of our hearts has been the same for the last few years – Lord, draw us out of the system of this world, release us from everything that so easily holds us back from living lives of faith, lives that are completely surrendered to Your kingdom and for Your glory. Slowly but surely, over the last year or two we have been watching this release unfold as the Lord so gently trained and equipped us, and made us whole.
Now it is our turn to go! To bring wholeness in the love of Jesus Christ to those who, like us, were not whole. To those who, like us, form part of the inheritance that belongs to Christ – His inheritance – that He deserves. Those who are broken, those who are weary, those who are slaves to sin, those who are sick, those who are lonely, those who are longing for a Saviour, those who are waiting for Love.
11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him [whoever adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] will not be disappointed [in his expectations].” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Gentile; for the same Lord is Lord over all [of us], and [He is] abounding in riches (blessings) for all who call on Him [in faith and prayer]. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord [in prayer] will be saved.”14 But how will people call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how will they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher (messenger)? 15 And how will they preach unless they are commissioned and sent [for that purpose]? Just as it is written and forever remains written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”
Commissioned and sent – we are packing up our belongings, saying goodbye to our favourite places and drenching ourselves in the company and love of our dear friends – and in a little over 3 weeks, we will make the 1200 km trip to the East. And every day I have to make this decision again, to live by faith, to KNOW that I am sent. To know that what I make of this moment changes everything. Will I look at these circumstances through faith, or through fear?
I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore, you shall choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants
I really don’t want to stand on the other side of this adventure, looking back, and having seen all of what the Lord had in store, know that I held back… know that I dipped my toes in the water when He was calling me to dance on the waves. Our hearts are after Him.
We feel led to pursue this call full time, and therefore trust that the Lord has set apart a team of people who carry this call in their hearts as well, and are willing to partner with us financially. 16 gifts of R500 per month, enable our family to pour all our time and efforts into this. If you have prayerfully considered becoming involved, and would like to donate a once off contribution towards the cost of the move, or a monthly contribution towards our living expenses, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
We also rely on a team of prayer warriors to walk alongside us as a family – We will be posting prayer points regularly on the blog, but please contact me if you would prefer to receive these prayer points in the form of an email instead.
Remember to follow the blog to receive notifications on new posts – as I will be updating on every step of the journey ahead and sharing all the ups and downs and smiles and frowns <3 Most importantly, remember that Jesus lives. He loves you. He IS freedom. He IS peace. He IS hope. And on this road, He has placed (for all of us) very strategic, very personal, very intentional pockets of beauty
